A few things to know

Who can use the $10 promo code?

COMPAREACCOUNTS10 is valid only for new Upside users.

Is the $10 taken off my purchase price?

No. The $10 bonus is cash back after purchase, not a discount at the register.

Will I see the same cash back offers every time?

Offer availability and cash back rates vary by user, location, retailer and time. Check the Upside app for current offers and terms.

Compare your actual fill-up cost

Compare stations along your normal route using the fuel grade your vehicle requires. Multiply the posted price by the gallons you expect to buy. Check whether the displayed price requires cash, membership or another condition. Include any extra travel before choosing a station farther away.

Use less fuel on the trips you take

Combine errands where practical and remove unnecessary cargo. Drive smoothly and follow speed limits and road conditions. DOE/EPA guidance explains why aggressive acceleration and braking waste fuel. No particular mileage improvement is guaranteed for your car or route.

Check routine maintenance and the manufacturer's tire-pressure guidance. Do not buy a fuel-saving gadget or a new vehicle on the strength of a small projected weekly saving.

Review one week of driving

Record fuel spending and any cashback actually received. Compare similar driving needs; a vacation week and a normal commute are not interchangeable. If you do not drive, use this week to review transit or another relevant expense through the monthly-bills guide.

FAQ

Is the highest cashback offer the cheapest gas?

No. Compare the pump price, reward conditions and extra travel together.

When should I count cashback?

Track pending rewards separately. Count cash toward a savings goal only when received and retained; do not count the same reward again when transferring it.
